1. Having a threesome
No real surprises, here. A whopping 89 per cent of those surveyed (no, it wasn’t just blokes) saidfantasised having a threesome. Straight males were more likely to fantasise having a threesome with two women, Lehmiller found, while straight women didn’t indicate a preference.
It seems more than half of us like it rough. The survey revealed that 65 per cent of participants fantasisebeing on the receiving end of pain, like spanking, biting, and dripping hot wax. Women had “slightly more frequent” desires of giving up control to a partner, Lehmiller told The Independent.
3. Change things up
Whetherwere keen to swap positions, locations, or even partners, a large number of participants fantasised about shaking up their bedroom antics. If they usually had in bed, they’d fantasise about getting it on outside, or if they were in a relationship, they’d fantasise about doing business with the next door neighbour, for example.
If you’ve ever thought about suggesting an impromptu quickie outside but bottled it at the last minute, know this: location was one of the biggest fantasies for women. The majority of women “often” fantasised about having sex somewhere you run the risk of getting caught. Top picks? The office, the park, and in a lift.
5. Open relationships
When it comes to wandering eyes, men have the monopoly. According to Lehmiller’s findings, 79 per cent of men and 62 per cent of women said they’d have sex with other people – if their partner approved. A further 58 per cent of participants said they thought about watching their partner have sex with other people.
6. Meaningful sex
We like feeling the love. The majority of both men and women surveyed said they crave ‘meaningful’ sex that makes them feel desired, appreciated and loved”, The Independent revealed. Feeling that they were “irresistible” – and that their bedroom performance was well-received – also rated highly.
7. Same-sex encounters
Men fantasising about men? More common than you’d think – 26 per cent of straight men surveyed said they’d imagined sex with other men. Almost 60 per cent of straight women said they’d thought about having sex with other women. No word, however, on how many men also fantasise about that. Guess we’ll never know...
